1. Who we are

Artificially Opposed is a podcast, YouTube channel, and website at www.artificiallyopposed.com (together, the "Services"). The Services are operated by Artificially Opposed ("we," "us," "our").

2. What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Services, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It also explains how our own internal software uses YouTube API Services (Section 8).

It does not cover YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or any other third-party platform where you watch or listen to our shows. Those platforms have their own privacy policies.

3. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

• Your name and email address when you subscribe to updates, join a waitlist, or contact us.
• The content of messages, questions, guest pitches, or show submissions you send us.
• Anything you choose to include in a comment, form, or survey on our website.

Information collected automatically when you use the website

• Device and browser data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and time spent.
• Approximate location derived from your IP address (city or region level, not precise location).
• Cookie and similar technology data (see Section 6).

Information from platforms

• Aggregated audience analytics from YouTube and podcast platforms, such as view counts, watch time, traffic sources, and country-level audience breakdowns. These reports are aggregated and do not identify individual viewers to us.
• Public comments you post on our YouTube channel or other public pages, which are visible to us the same way they are visible to everyone.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, financial account numbers, health information, or precise geolocation.

4. How we use information

• To run, maintain, and improve the Services.
• To send you the updates or content you asked for, and to respond to your messages.
• To understand which episodes, topics, and formats our audience finds valuable.
• To schedule, publish, and manage our own videos and podcast episodes.
• To protect the Services, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. How we share information

We share personal information only in these cases:

• Service providers who host our website, send our email, provide analytics, or store data for us, under contracts that limit their use of the data to providing services to us.
• Affiliated companies under common ownership with Artificially Opposed, for the purposes described in this policy.
• Legal and safety reasons, when we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our users, or others.
• Business transfers, if the Services are sold, merged, or transferred, in which case your information may transfer to the new owner under this policy or one at least as protective.
• With your consent, for any other purpose you approve.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep it working, remember your preferences, and measure traffic. Embedded YouTube videos may set cookies from Google when you play them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the website work. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

7. Email communications

If you subscribe to updates, we will email you about new episodes and related content. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email opt-out@pretzinger.com to be removed. We may still send non-marketing messages related to a request you made.

8. YouTube API Services

We use YouTube API Services in our own internal publishing software to manage the Artificially Opposed YouTube channel. By interacting with our YouTube channel or content we publish through YouTube, you are also subject to:

What the software accesses. The software is authorized only by the Artificially Opposed channel owner, and only for that channel. Through the YouTube Data API and YouTube Analytics API it accesses channel details, branding, playlists, videos we upload, thumbnails, scheduling settings, and aggregated channel analytics.

What it does with that data. It uses the data only to upload and manage our own videos and podcast episodes, maintain our playlists and channel page, and report on our own channel's performance.

What it stores. It stores the channel's identifier, playlist identifiers, video identifiers, publishing status records, and an OAuth refresh token that allows it to act for our channel. Tokens are kept in access-restricted storage on our own server and are never shared. It does not collect or store personal information about viewers, commenters, or any other YouTube users.

Sharing. YouTube data accessed through the software is not sold and is not shared with third parties, except service providers that host our systems and as required by law.

Revoking access. The channel owner can revoke the software's access to YouTube data at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. We delete the stored refresh token when access is revoked or when we stop using the software, and we delete or refresh any other stored YouTube API data within 30 days.

9. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy:

• Email subscriber data: until you unsubscribe, plus a short period to honor that request.
• Messages and submissions: up to 3 years, unless an ongoing matter requires longer.
• Website analytics: up to 26 months.
• YouTube API data: as described in Section 8.

10. How we protect information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the information we hold, including access controls, encrypted connections, and restricted credential storage. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete your information.
• Opt out of marketing emails.
• Opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do not do either).
• Appeal a decision we make about your request.

To make a request, email privacy@pretzinger.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify your identity before acting on it and respond within the time the law requires, generally 45 days. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

California residents. In the last 12 months we collected identifiers (name, email, IP address), internet activity (pages viewed, referrers), and approximate geolocation, for the purposes in Section 4. We disclosed them to service providers for business purposes. We have not sold or shared personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Visitors outside the United States. The Services are operated from the United States, and your information will be processed there. Where the law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on your consent, our legitimate interest in running and improving the Services, and our legal obligations.

12. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email privacy@pretzinger.com and we will delete it.

13. Links to other sites

The Services link to YouTube, podcast platforms, guest websites, and other third-party sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before sharing information with them.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is material, we will give notice on the website or by email before it takes effect.
